We are proud that we, together with Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, have assisted the Japanese trading house Mitsui in its agreement to invest EUR 575 million, for a 27.5% stake in Aker Mainstream Renewable AS. The company is controlled by Aker Horizons with 54.4%.
All three companies stated the following, in a joint press release:
-Mitsui's investment and global business network will help Mainstream to speed expansion of its portfolio of wind and solar energy in the Americas, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
Mainstream will also expand in battery storage, power trading, green ammonia and green hydrogen production. Aker Horizons CEO and Mainstream Chairman, Kristian Røkke, adds:
-Mitsui is the perfect partner for Mainstream to accelerate the company's growth to become a renewable energy major.
