The Norwegian Competition Authority approved Norturas aquisition of Steinsland & Co AS

Today The Norwegian Competition Authority approved Nortura's acquisition of a controlling stake in the hatchery company Steinsland &Co. AS. The authority's decision comes after a four month long process.

The authorities concluded that the acquisition will significantly prevent effective competition, but nevertheless chose to approve the transaction after Nortura proposed a series of remedies to remove the competition concerns.

Rare decision

It is rare for the Norwegian Competition Authority to approve acquisitions based on such behavioural regulatory obligations. Normally, the audit prefers structural measures, typically the sale of business.

Arntzen de Besche assists Nortura in this case, both with the competition law challenges and with the transactional and tax law aspects.

AdeB's core team in this case consisted of Stein Ove Solberg and Paul Gunnar Hagelund (competition), Lars H. Hinze and Asgeir Lehmann (M&A) and Eyvind Sandvik (tax).
