Arntzen de Besche and Grette to Merge – Creating a Leading, Nationwide Law Firm with a Strong Market Presence

The law firms Arntzen de Besche and Grette are merging to form Arntzen Grette.

The new firm will comprise approximately 200 lawyers and expects a turnover of around NOK 900 million in its first year of operation. The merger is scheduled for completion by September 2025 at the latest.

- The rationale behind the merger is simple: we aim to provide the market with stronger, broader and more specialised legal services. We are taking a significant and strategic step forward – one we are confident will directly benefit those we advise, says Håvard Sandnes, who will take on the role of Managing Partner at Arntzen Grette.

Expanded Service Capabilities

The combined firm will rank among Norway’s leading law practices, with the scale and expertise to handle complex matters for both Norwegian and international clients. Arntzen Grette will take a prominent position in legal advisory, dispute resolution and transactions across a range of sectors including industry, energy, aquaculture, real estate, and construction. The firm will operate from offices in Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger and Mo i Rana.

-Together, we are creating a strong, nationwide presence in the Norwegian legal market. This merger brings together two ambitious organisations with a shared drive for growth and development. It reflects a clear commitment to becoming the preferred partner for our clients, says Marius Svendsvoll Langnes, who will serve as Chair of the Board at Arntzen Grette.

The Path Forward

This is a merger of two well-established firms that have each built strong reputations and complementary areas of expertise. A larger platform enhances our ability to deliver solutions in areas where we expect significant developments in the years to come. Our people remain our most valuable asset – and will be central to the continued growth and success of Arntzen Grette.

We look forward to building on our trusted client relationships – now with even stronger professional teams, deeper specialist capabilities, and a more visible presence in the market.
