Magnus Høegh Krohn Viddal is part of the Procurement and Competition Law department.
He advises clients on all aspects of competition law and has previously assisted clients in relation to competition law investigations lead by the Norwegian Competition Authority and the EFTA Surveillance Authority – the latter particularly in relation to the investigation of Norwegian regional airline Widerøe’s alleged abuse of market power in connection with its bid for Norwegian PSO routes. Viddal also advises Norwegian and international clients on aspects relating to Norwegian and EU merger control as well as general competition law compliance work. He was part of the team overseeing compliance with the conditions for clearance of the merger between MECA/Mekonomen.
In addition to competition law and public procurement, Viddal advises clients on matters relating to regulatory sectors such as transport, medicines/medical equipment/medical consumables, export control/sanctions, foodstuffs/food supplements/cosmetics as well as general public administration law.
From January to July 2020 he was a Seconded Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Antitrust Competition and Trade team (London office) where he assisted one of Freshfields largest and most prominent clients in relation to ongoing antitrust investigations lead by the European Commission and the English Competition and Markets Authority. Whilst at Freshfields he also assisted international Private Equity funds with merger filings to the European Commission as well as matters relating to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
In addition to his Master of Law degree Viddal has studied English at the University of Oslo (one year program).
He wrote his dissertation in the field of company law with the title “An analysis of legal aspects concerning Norwegian registered foreign enterprise (NUF) and Norwegian limited company (AS)”.
