Hanstad is part of the Oil, Offshore and Energy department.
Hanstad’s practice is mainly within the area of petroleum and energy law, corporate law and contract law, providing advice on both regulatory, corporate and strategic matters.
Hanstad has worked extensively with regulatory matters within the petroleum sector, inter alia relevant to Joint Operating Agreements, the Petroleum Law and appurtenant regulations. Hanstad has also gained an extensive experience and understanding of technical, operational and HSE matters.
He has had an active role in negotiations of several tie-in projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, developing valuable experience with applicable commercial arrangements and their agreements, and a broad range of regulatory matters.
Hanstad also has extensive experience with procurement in the oil and gas industry, inter alia with service and fabrication contracts and via almost a full year of in-house experience at a major Norwegian oil services contractor, providing legal, commercial and strategic advice to the management. Hanstad is particularly experienced with contracts based on the Norwegian fabrication model agreements NF/NTK.
For several years, Hanstad has been a part of Arntzen de Besche’s team assisting various E&P clients with different transactions. Hanstad has experience from both corporate transactions involving international E&P companies and from a substantial number of completed and non-completed asset transactions involving exploration, development and producing assets located in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea. Via this work, Hanstad has obtained a broad knowledge of the general E&P business as conducted by governmental agencies and companies on both corporate level and within the licenses, including knowledge of important value drivers, material contracts and statutory and regulatory matters.
