The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has approved a power-from-shore solution for four oil fields - Arntzen de Besche represented Petoro AS and the Johan Sverdrup Unit

On 11 February 2021, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the area solution for power-from-shore to the oil and gas fields Johan Sverdrup, Edvard Grieg, Ivar Aasen and Gina Krog in the southern part of Utsirahøyden on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Arntzen de Besche represented Petoro AS and the owners of the host facility to the solution, the Johan Sverdrup Unit, in the negotiation and conclusion of the agreements required to establish the solution.  See more information in the press release from the MPE (in Norwegian).

The assignment has given Arntzen de Besche an unique experience in the handling of power-from-shore issues on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, a key element in achieving Norway's ambitious goals for the reduction of CO2 emissions. Together with the firm’s leading competence within onshore power, Arntzen de Besche is at the forefront of providing legal advice and representation within the areas of power-from-shore and offshore wind energy going forward. Our advisory team on this assignment was led by Anders Rødland, partner in our Oil, Offshore and Energy department, and included Hanna Bjørhus Askhaven and Ingvild Sandal.
