Arntzen de Besche has written a chapter about transparency in international petroleum law in the book Research Handbook on International Energy Law
There is high demand for increased transparency in the governance of natural resources, in particular in relation to extractive industries such as the petroleum industry.1 First voiced by civil society organizations some fifteen years ago, today many governments and companies also take active part in transparency efforts. The development of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is an example of how civil society, governments and companies involved in the extractive industries can work together for increased revenue transparency.
