Arntzen de Besche largest on transactions in 2015

According to figures for 2015 from the analysis bureau MergerMarket, Arntzen de Besche was involved in mergers and acquisitions with a total value of approximately 175 billion NOK. That was clearly the highest among Norwegian law firms.

The figures apply to transactions globally, i.e. both in Norway and abroad. – We are naturally very pleased with this leading position. The collaboration with large foreign companies and law firms gives us access to extensive and exciting assignments and cases, says Per André Dagslet, the head of M&A in Arntzen de Besche.

In 2015 Arntzen de Besche was involved in the demerger of the pharmaceutical company Baxter International, which resulted in Baxalta Inc., the acquisition of the fish food production company EWOS, the sale of the Norwegian branch of the power company E.ON., and the acquisition of the European business of the tour operator Kuoni. In addition to these transactions, Arntzen de Besche was involved in a number of other small, medium-sized and large transactions.

- This only confirms the strong standing of Arntzen de Besche, and it is a nice step up from the second place in 2014, says managing partner Sven Iver Steen.

In 2014 Arntzen de Besche assisted in assignments with a total transaction value of approximately 105 billion NOK (average Euro exchange rate measured monthly in 2014). In 2015 this number had increased to approximately 175 billion NOK (average GBP exchange rate measured monthly in 2015), well aided by the demerger of Baxter International which resulted in Baxalta, a transaction of 11 billion GBP.

- Arntzen de Besche possesses a very broad network among the large international companies and is therefore involved in many of the largest transactions, where Baxalta is a brilliant example, says Dagslet.
